Position Overview
The Ladders is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader who is passionate about community enhancement through strategic lending, technical support, project oversight, and related initiatives. This role will focus on three primary areas: affordable housing financing, small business funding, and strategic programs aimed at the development and preservation of affordable housing.
The Vice President of Lending and Investment Strategies will oversee the origination, assessment, closing, and ongoing management of our housing and small business portfolios. This position will lead a team of underwriters, housing program specialists, and business development professionals dedicated to expanding our lending initiatives. The Vice President will also evaluate and structure transactions, assess credit risks, and manage the due diligence process as part of the lending framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic lending framework that aligns with our organizational goals, including the creation of new lending programs and associated marketing materials.
- Establish best practices and policies related to affordable housing and community development, focusing on innovative financing models and community ownership strategies.
- Guide the team in researching and developing resources for policy advocacy at local, regional, and state levels.
- Oversee the underwriting process, collaborating with borrowers to assess project feasibility, structuring transactions, conducting due diligence, and preparing credit documentation.
- Support the Housing Program team in executing training sessions, workshops, and informational events, both virtually and in-person.
- Facilitate technical assistance for community development organizations and strategic partners as required.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and secure funding sources, including philanthropic contributions and public grants.
- Lead special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; an advanced degree in finance, business, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in community development lending, with a proven ability to structure complex real estate transactions.
- Strong leadership skills with at least two years of management experience.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex transactions and coordinate with various stakeholders to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with local regulations affecting housing development and financing programs.
- Detail-oriented with strong project management capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, MS Office, and financial analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong public speaking abilities.
