About the Position
The University of California, Berkeley seeks a visionary leader to serve as the next Dean of Berkeley Social Welfare. As a key member of the university's leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for advancing the school's mission and vision, fostering a culture of excellence, and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the school, aligning with the university's goals and priorities
- Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration among faculty, staff, and students
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that the school's programs and services are accessible and welcoming to all
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners
- Oversee the development and implementation of academic programs, research initiatives, and community engagement activities
- Manage the school's budget, resources, and operations, ensuring effective use of university funds and facilities
- Represent the school and the university in various forums, including national and international conferences, and media outlets
Requirements
- Doctoral degree or equivalent international degree in a relevant field
- Proven track record of leadership and management experience in higher education or a related field
- Strong understanding of social welfare policies, programs, and practices
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and ability to promote these values in all aspects of the job
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in academic administration, including faculty supervision, curriculum development, and program evaluation
- Strong research background, with a focus on social welfare policies and programs
- Experience in community engagement and outreach, including partnerships with community organizations and government agencies
- Ability to secure external funding and resources to support the school's programs and initiatives
