Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated LPN Resident to join our Orthopedic team at Cape Canaveral Hospital. As a LPN Resident, you will have the opportunity to work under the supervision of an RN and provide outstanding direct patient care while supporting our Quality / No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medications and IV therapy effectively, as evidenced by preceptor observation and clinical practice.
  • Document all nursing care, changes in patient condition, responses to therapy, treatments, procedures, and referrals on patient records to meet standards.
  • Monitor patients according to established standards and provide patient summary reports to RN at the start of each shift.
  • Follow interdisciplinary plans of care, coordinated by the RN, based on current evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrate effective and safe clinical practice, as evidenced by completion of annual Competency Assessment.
  • Provide patient, family, and/or caregiver education as directed by the plan of care.
  • Contribute to the patient experience by promoting positive patient satisfaction scores and HCAHPs scores for the department/medical center.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a practical nursing program.
  • Current State of Florida LPN licensure or endorsement.
  • Must hold current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
  • Must hold State of Florida approved 30 hour IV Certification which contains the minimum four (4) hours of instruction relevant to central lines within 60 days of hire.

  • Ability to speak and understand written and verbal instructions in the English language.

  • Dependability, reliability, and flexibility.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically agile, with the ability to walk, stand, run, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, or crouch frequently.
  • May require lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
