Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at Huntsville Hospital Health System. As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of a Radiologist, produce high-quality radiographs on all patient age groups.
  • Explain procedures to patients and position and immobilize them for procedures.
  • Select appropriate technical factors for specific body parts and review images for quality and accuracy of positioning.
  • Assist Radiologists with invasive procedures and set up rooms properly for specific procedures.
  • Practice principles of sterile technique and label items on trays in accordance with Joint Commission standards.
  • Select appropriate procedure trays and instruments needed and obtain images as requested by Radiologists to facilitate diagnosis of disease processes.
  • Maintain patient and personal safety and provide radiation protection to all patients as needed.
  • Follow principles of good body mechanics when lifting and utilize appropriate transfer techniques for patient conditions.
  • Use two identifiers approved by the hospital to verify patient identity and administer appropriate contrast media as directed by Radiologists.
  • Attend annual inservice on venipuncture techniques and perform venipuncture as required for procedures.
  • Properly perform procedures for making patient CDs and verify that written physician orders match orders in PACS.
  • Know proper sequence to send images from C-arm to PACS and operate film digitizers to add films to PACS.
  • Prioritize sequence of exams to complete procedures in the shortest amount of time and take precautions to ensure that positioning for ordered examinations do not exacerbate patients' injuries.
  • Produce quality images with a maximum amount of image detail and knowledge of departmental trauma protocols.
  • Complete procedures that must be cleared by a physician prior to moving patients for additional procedures and practice standard precautions, anticipating exposure to blood and body fluids during trauma radiography.
Qualifications
  • Must have satisfactorily completed AMA-approved Radiologic Technologist training program and be eligible for ARRT registry.
  • No experience required, but preferred.
  • BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
