Key Responsibilities

As a Medical Surgical Float Pool Registered Nurse, your duties will include:

  • Conducting patient assessments and developing individualized care plans.
  • Implementing and evaluating patient care strategies.
  • Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure effective care delivery.
  • Administering medications and performing treatments in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Delegating tasks to non-licensed personnel as appropriate.
  • Providing care for patients before and after surgical procedures.
  • Educating patients and their families about care plans and treatments.
  • Facilitating discharge planning in coordination with the care team.
Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Education: Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License (Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
