Job Description

The Software Engineering Manager at Nava Public Benefit Corp is responsible for the career growth of their direct reports, ensuring they receive guidance, relevant feedback, and are correctly compensated. As a technical leader, the incumbent will engage with IT management, technical delivery teams, users, and vendors to ensure the successful design, development, and delivery of technology-based solutions in support of Nava's culture and mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical leadership: Guide cross-functional product teams on identifying and mitigating technical risks.
  • Code reviews: Ensure code compliance with standards and best practices.
  • Team coordination: Coordinate internally and externally to assess tech restraints and opportunities.
  • Sprint planning: Assist in sprint planning, quarterly planning, and backlog refinement.
  • People management: Facilitate regular 1:1s with direct reports, coach junior engineers, address underperformance, recognize excellent achievement, provide honest and thorough performance reviews, make recommendations for promotion, advocate for direct reports, and create an environment where the team feels psychologically safe.
Requirements

We are seeking a highly experienced Software Engineering Manager who has:

  • 6+ years experience developing software in a team environment, preferably building distributed systems.
  • Experience designing and implementing application architectures and code that is highly scalable, available, and performant.
  • Self-directed, requiring minimal supervision.
  • 2 or more years experience as a People Manager.
  • An adaptive, empathetic, collaborative, and positive mindset.
  • Ability to think holistically around engineering issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, technical and otherwise.
  • Ability to work with others on a team.
Benefits

Nava Public Benefit Corp offers a competitive salary range of $180,000 - $220,000 per year, depending on location and experience. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including:
