Job Description

Job Summary:

The Centralia Elementary School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Assistant to join our team. As a Special Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with special needs in academic and functional skills development
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under the supervision of a certified special education teacher
  • Provide one-on-one support and small group instruction to students
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement instructional strategies
  • Monitor and record student progress, maintaining accurate and detailed records

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in special education or related field preferred
  • Experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a school setting
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with teachers, parents, and other support staff
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
