Position Overview:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is tasked with delivering comprehensive nursing care grounded in established standards and professional nursing principles; responsible for the results of the nursing services provided.
Educational Background:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred. Degrees should be obtained from institutions accredited by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is mandatory.
Experience:
Prior experience in an acute care or critical care environment is highly desirable.
Licensure and Certification:
Must possess a current and valid RN Licensure with the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Completion of the American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 calendar days of hire. Exceptions for obtaining certification from alternative providers may be considered on a case-by-case basis by Staff Development.
BLS recertification is mandated every two years.ACLS Certification:
Preferred but not required.

Engages effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Physical Demands:
Medium: The employee frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) needs to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) uses hands and fingers; and frequently communicates verbally or audibly.
The employee must be able to exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
