Job Summary:
The University of Iowa's Department of Pathology seeks a skilled Cytologist to perform laboratory procedures, including microscopic examination of slides and specimen preparation. As a member of our team, you will contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of patients by providing high-quality cytologic specimens and interpretations.

About the Position:
This 100% time position involves working Monday through Friday on the first shift. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and completion of an accredited cytotechnology program. Registration or eligibility for registration with the American Society of Clinical Pathology is also required. We are seeking a motivated individual with strong communication skills and experience working in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities:
* Performs microscopic examination of slides on cytologic specimens, rendering preliminary and final cytologic impressions
* Prepares specimens for gynecologic, non-gynecologic, and histologic testing as needed
* Ensures compliance with accrediting agencies' regulations and guidelines for quality control
* Provides orientation to other professional personnel and pathology residents as requested
