Job Summary:

The Medical Emergency Response Specialist will provide high-quality patient care and emergency medical services to patients in need. This role requires a strong understanding of medical protocols and procedures, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patient situations to determine the best course of action and appropriate medical protocol.
  • Utilize medical equipment and procedures to provide advanced medical care, including defibrillation, EKG monitoring, oxygen therapy, and medication administration.
  • Develop and utilize triage skills to prioritize patient care and optimize emergency response times.
  • Provide patient care according to established medical protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Act as a team leader and take responsibility for scene and unit management as needed.
  • Drive ambulances and provide map reading support to minimize response times.
  • Continuously maintain certifications and stay up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Collaborate with dispatchers and other emergency responders to ensure effective communication and response.
  • Monitor and maintain the condition of emergency vehicles and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Document patient care and billing information accurately and efficiently.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including safety and driving protocols.

Requirements:

  • Current Hawaii State BME Paramedic License
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED); some advanced education preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of full-time EMS experience; experience must come from providing direct patient care on an ambulance as a paramedic
  • Valid State Driver's License
  • Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS, or PEPP, BTLS, or PHTLS Provider Certification (where applicable or required by contract)
  • Driving record in compliance with AMR Safety and Driving policy
