Position Summary: The On-Call Technician plays a crucial role in delivering technical services directly to clients. This position requires a self-motivated individual capable of working independently in various environments. Responsibilities may include maintaining computer systems, diagnosing technical issues, ensuring internet connectivity, conducting system diagnostics, managing server operations, repairing hardware, and offering comprehensive technical assistance. Additionally, you may be tasked with the installation and configuration of television, surveillance, automation, and network systems primarily in residential settings, with some commercial work.

Note: This is a 1099 independent contractor role. You will need to provide your own tools, vehicle, and possess a valid driver's license. We will reimburse travel expenses exceeding 20 miles (one-way) and other site-related costs. Compensation ranges from $35 to $40 per hour for on-site work and parts procured for clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Technical Support.
  • Configuring email accounts using various platforms.
  • Extensive knowledge of Windows operating systems.
  • Performing PC imaging, hardware diagnostics, and configurations.
  • Understanding TCP/IP, routers, WAPs, wireless networks, and other networking devices.
  • Utilizing spyware/adware removal tools and antivirus software.
  • Comfortable with all aspects of PC and laptop hardware setup and maintenance, including installation and configuration of hard drives, NICs, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Experience with Mac systems is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Installation and setup of smart home and IoT devices.
  • Assisting clients with the connection and troubleshooting of smart home products and hubs.
  • Providing clients with basic tutorials to enhance their understanding of software.
  • Assisting clients with warranty claims and troubleshooting issues.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in PC imaging and configuration.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and network issues effectively.
  • Aptitude for assisting clients in understanding and utilizing technology.
  • Willingness to learn on the job.
  • In-depth knowledge of smart devices and their operational systems.
  • Experience in smart device installation, hardware diagnostics, and configuration.
  • Physical capability to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift items unassisted.
  • Familiarity with general construction and electrical principles.
