Overview:
THRIVE acts as the central resource for programs aimed at first-generation college students and those from low-income backgrounds. The THRIVE Student Engagement Coordinator will offer tailored support to these students as they navigate their academic journey. This role involves assisting students in crafting personalized success strategies and connecting them with essential campus resources. Additionally, the Coordinator will function as a bridge between THRIVE and the Office of the Dean of Students, participating in relevant committees and groups as necessary. This position plays a vital role in fostering a sense of community and belonging among first-generation and low-income students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular meetings with students, primarily in one-on-one settings, with some group interactions.
- Establish trusting relationships with students, supporting their academic and personal success with a holistic and strengths-based approach.
- Proactively link students to campus resources, extracurricular activities, and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with faculty advisors, deans, instructors, coaches, and other college personnel to enhance the sense of belonging for first-generation and low-income students.
- Work alongside THRIVE team members to engage and support students collectively, aiming to achieve team objectives.
- Participate in professional development activities, review current literature, and analyze THRIVE reports to build a data-informed foundation for the program and enhance personal skills through individual and team meetings.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The anticipated salary range for this position is between $65,000 and $68,000.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Demonstrated cultural competence in working with historically marginalized populations, including first-generation college students and those from low-income backgrounds.
- Understanding of the unique needs of these student demographics, particularly within the context of a prestigious liberal arts education.
- Familiarity with the values, culture, and operations of liberal arts institutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to student advocacy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and a willingness to learn new software and applications quickly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, DegreeWorks, and Zoom.
Experience:
- 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in higher education, particularly in areas related to college access and persistence for historically marginalized student populations.
- Experience in advising or coaching, especially with college students and historically underrepresented groups.
Work Schedule:
- This is a full-time, year-round position requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week.
- As an exempt position, it necessitates the time required to meet all job responsibilities, including some evenings and weekends.
