Animal Shelter Technician

City of Odessa is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Shelter Technician to join our team. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and attention to the animals in our shelter.

• Animal Care: Provide food, water, and general care to the animals in our shelter, including cleaning, disinfecting, and removing waste.
• Kennel Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kennels, including removing dead animals and disposing of waste.
• Animal Handling: Humanely handle animals under various circumstances, including vaccinations, microchipping, and assisting with veterinary procedures.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of animal care, including vaccinations, medical treatments, and adoptions.
• Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to the public, including answering questions and providing information about animal care and adoption.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: Minimum of six months of customer relations experience, preferably in an animal care setting.
• Skills: Ability to read, write, and understand written and oral instructions; ability to maintain accurate records; ability to deal with the public tactfully and courteously.
• Certifications: Valid driver's license and euthanasia certification from the Texas Department of Health or equivalent.

The Animal Shelter Technician will work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to loud noises, odors, and dirt. The position requires the ability to lift up to 70 pounds and work in a variety of weather conditions.
