At Petco, we're dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for pets and their owners. As a Junior Pet Stylist, you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional grooming services while learning the skills and techniques necessary to excel in this rewarding career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance of experienced groomers, perform limited grooming services, including bathing, drying, nail trimming, brushing, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning.
  • Ensure the well-being and safety of every animal in the salon at all times.
  • Interact professionally and effectively with pet parents, providing optimal customer service and addressing grooming-related inquiries.
  • Maintain a clean and safe grooming area and salon, adhering to Petco's hygiene and sanitation policies.

Training and Development

Our comprehensive training program will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed as a Junior Pet Stylist. You'll learn dog behavior, pet and self-safety, proper check-in/out procedures, customer service, and grooming policies, all while gaining hands-on experience in bathing and drying techniques.

Requirements

  • 0-1 year of animal-related experience, including shelter volunteering or pet sitting.
  • High-school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Genuine passion for animals and a desire to pursue a career in pet grooming.
  • Basic understanding of dog breeds, behavior, and common grooming practices.

Work Environment

The majority of job duties are conducted indoors in the grooming salon. Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds, as necessary), and standing for long periods of time. A large amount of your time will be spent in direct contact with our pet parents and their dogs, and the remaining time will be with the other salon partners.
