Job Overview

This role is situated within the Office of Innovation and Technology, specifically in the Unified Communications unit. Reporting directly to the Unified Communications Director, this position plays a crucial role in enhancing and managing the video surveillance systems (VSS) team and its initiatives. The VSS team currently oversees over 1300 cameras, with plans for expansion to accommodate various video surveillance programs across the City of Philadelphia.

Key Responsibilities

The VSS IT Supervisor will:
  • Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports regarding VSS operations for the UC Director.
  • Monitor budget expenditures and collaborate closely with the VSS field team.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all VSS-related inquiries; manage escalations, participate in VSS meetings, and oversee VSS projects.
  • Attend VSS Governance Board meetings and engage with leadership, public safety teams, and vendors.

Essential Functions

The role includes:
  • Achieving departmental goals by planning and assessing VSS opportunities.
  • Collaborating with VSS management and field personnel.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for video surveillance programs and projects.
  • Formulating and coordinating policies and procedures.
  • Managing the budget effectively.
  • Overseeing vendor relationships.
  • Setting strategic objectives in partnership with VSS field managers.
  • Participating in governance board committee meetings.
  • Providing comprehensive reports and metrics to executive leadership.
  • Engaging with departmental leadership.
  • Conducting quarterly meetings with VSS programs.
