Job Title: Sorter

Join Axelon as a Sorter and contribute to the success of our laboratory team

Responsibilities:
  • Receive and process specimens delivered to the laboratory for analysis, ensuring timely and accurate sorting and transfer to designated departments.
  • Sort and categorize specimens into bins, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Process courier deliveries and store specimens in designated areas, adhering to security procedures and confidentiality protocols.
  • Inspect trash bags for completeness and accuracy, ensuring all samples and documents are removed.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the Warehouse Accessioning area, adhering to laboratory standards.
  • Assist with freezer cleanout and destruction of specimens, following established procedures.
  • Review and document specimen acceptability and chain of custody forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Adhere to all security procedures for ensuring confidentiality of donor information and maintaining a secure laboratory environment.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Competencies:
  • Basic understanding of laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills to convey ideas and collaborate with team members.
  • Basic understanding of certification requirements for SAMHSA, CAP-FUDT, and other regulatory bodies.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Full body movement and flexibility.
  • Corrected vision and hearing to meet minimum acceptable norms.
Mental/Reasoning Requirements:
  • Ability to cope with stress due to production obligations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend SOPs, Federal guidelines, and CAP-FUDT regulations.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with team members and supervisors.
  • Ability to provide input and recommendations on operations.
Work Environment:
  • Climate-controlled office and testing laboratory environment.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated and -20 degree freezer areas for storing and removing samples.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Potential exposure to toxic or hazardous materials.
