Principal duties and responsibilities:- Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Set up, test, and operate hemodialysis machines for patient treatments.
- Obtain and document necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight for each patient.
- Evaluate vascular access pre-treatment and perform vascular access cannulation.
- Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed by physician order or as directed.
- Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy.
- Evaluate patient prior to termination of venous access and discontinues dialysis treatment according to established procedures.
- Report any significant information and/or change in patient condition directly to supervisor.
- Enter all treatment data into the designated clinical application in an accurate and timely manner.
- Collect, label, appropriately prepare, and store lab samples according to required laboratory specifications.
- Clean and disinfect dialysis machine surface, chair, equipment, and surrounding area between treatments according to facility policy.
- Assist other healthcare members in providing patient education.
- Prepare, organize, and efficiently use supplies and equipment to prevent waste.
High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
Experience and required skills:Dependable, compassionate, caring, supportive, collaborative, and reliable qualities are essential. Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility is preferred but not required.
