Principal duties and responsibilities:
  1. Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
  2. Set up, test, and operate hemodialysis machines for patient treatments.
  3. Obtain and document necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight for each patient.
  4. Evaluate vascular access pre-treatment and perform vascular access cannulation.
  5. Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed by physician order or as directed.
  6. Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy.
  7. Evaluate patient prior to termination of venous access and discontinues dialysis treatment according to established procedures.
  8. Report any significant information and/or change in patient condition directly to supervisor.
  9. Enter all treatment data into the designated clinical application in an accurate and timely manner.
  10. Collect, label, appropriately prepare, and store lab samples according to required laboratory specifications.
  11. Clean and disinfect dialysis machine surface, chair, equipment, and surrounding area between treatments according to facility policy.
  12. Assist other healthcare members in providing patient education.
  13. Prepare, organize, and efficiently use supplies and equipment to prevent waste.
Education and licenses:

High school diploma or G.E.D. required.

Experience and required skills:

Dependable, compassionate, caring, supportive, collaborative, and reliable qualities are essential. Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility is preferred but not required.
