We are seeking a highly skilled Radiation Oncology Physicist to join our team at Corewell Health. As a key member of our Radiation Oncology department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality radiation therapy to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and monitor clinical treatment processes, procedures, and staff performing daily calibrations for all therapy and imaging equipment, and radioactive sources.
- Manage and perform acceptance testing, commissioning, and routine QA of all radiotherapy equipment, imaging equipment, and planning systems according to industry standards and federal regulations.
- Assist in the development of medical physics and dosimetry QA procedures and policies, and ensure staff adherence to these guidelines.
- Provide consultation with radiation oncologists on the physical and radiobiological aspects of patient treatments and treatment plans.
- Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of computerized patient treatment plans performed by dosimetry staff, and work in consultation with physicians to achieve optimal care.
- Perform and guide dosimetry staff with patient-specific radiation measurements and calculations, and assist in the development and selection of complex devices required to direct and protect critical normal tissues.
- Manage and perform the measurement and analysis of data used for treatment planning computer software, and test new versions of software prior to use.
- Develop and implement acquisition and storage of data for treatment plans, treatment verification, and evaluations.
- Assure the accuracy of dose delivery, patient position, treatment unit parameters, and settings used for a patient's treatment, including correct transfer of parameters between the CT, CBCT, CT/PET, MRI, US, treatment planning system, and the treatment unit.
- Assist radiation oncologists in credentialing and supporting clinical trials, and ensure specific QA of clinical trials and protocols.
- Promote clinical implementation of advanced technology and techniques to improve the planning, imaging, and delivering of radiation treatments.
- Follow regulatory and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal agencies promulgating regulations affecting radiation devices and sources and radiological physics services.
- Master's degree or PhD degree in physics, medical physics, or a related field, or demonstrated equivalency through experience and being listed as an Authorized Medical Physicist (AMP) on a Nuclear Regulatory License (NRC).
- Completion of a CAMPEP-approved Medical Physics residency program in Radiation Oncology or 1-2 years' experience in a related field.
- Certification in therapeutic medical physics (or therapeutic radiological physics or radiological physics) by the American Board of Radiology, American Board of Medical Physics, or completion of certification within three years or hire, or classification as an AMP by the NRC.
