The Automotive Technician at Pep Boys is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing vehicles to ensure they are safe and running efficiently. This role requires a high level of technical knowledge and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication skills to explain complex repairs to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including brake and hydraulic, exhaust, electrical, cooling system, suspension, and alignment issues.
- Perform routine maintenance services, such as oil changes and tire rotations.
- Explain technical diagnoses and repairs to customers, ensuring they understand the work being done.
- Continuously learn new technical information and techniques to stay up-to-date with the latest automotive technology.
- Train and mentor junior technicians to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the role.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to company safety and environmental standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 6 months of automotive mechanical problem-solving and repair experience.
- Section 609 Certification preferred.
- State Inspection license if applicable.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift, carry, and place merchandise and supplies up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Frequent standing and walking for long periods of time.
