Job Summary

The Automotive Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing vehicles to ensure they are safe and running efficiently. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to effectively explain complex repairs to customers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair vehicle problems to specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance services, including oil changes and tire rotations
  • Explain technical diagnoses and repairs to customers and colleagues
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques to stay up-to-date with industry developments
  • Assist fellow technicians and mechanics as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months of automotive mechanical problem-solving and repair experience
  • Section 609 Certification preferred
  • State Inspection license if applicable
  • Valid driver's license
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check
  • Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed

Physical Demands

  • Lift, carry, and place merchandise and supplies up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Frequent standing and walking for long periods
  • Frequent reaching overhead and below the knees, squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting
  • Possess fine motor skills to safely operate tools
  • Climb up and down ladders to retrieve merchandise
  • Communicate effectively in person, by telephone, or by using telecommunications equipment
  • Enter and locate information on computer
  • Visually verify information, often in small print
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle
