We are seeking a skilled Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at York Building Products. As a family-owned and operated company, we understand the importance of investing in our employees and providing opportunities for their growth and development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. This includes troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical/electromechanical and mechanical component systems.

The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of previous plant maintenance experience, with a thorough knowledge of electricity and electrical/electromechanical maintenance methods. They will also be skilled in the application of methods used in the trade, including the use of hand tools, testing equipment, and the safe installation of new and replacement parts.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains, installs, and repairs electrical/electromechanical and mechanical component systems for concrete masonry plant equipment for safe and efficient operations
  • Quickly assesses issues during breakdowns and applies troubleshooting, diagnostic, and knowledge to repair equipment in an efficient manner
  • Safely operates motor vehicles and other mobile equipment, including man lift, forklift, skid steer, and others, in the course of plant repair/maintenance
  • Responsible for correcting and/or reporting any conditions that may be hazardous to employees, contractors, etc.
  • Works safely with members of the maintenance department and all other manufacturing personnel towards the common goal of minimizing downtime and maximizing quality and productivity of the production lines
  • Performs building and grounds maintenance as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification and Experience:

  • Should have 2 or more years of previous plant maintenance experience
  • Have the ability to weld and fabricate when needed
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the principles of electricity and of electrical/electromechanical maintenance methods
  • Skilled in the application of methods used in the trade; use of hand tools, testing equipment, and the safe installation of new and replacement parts
  • Have the ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and to implement that knowledge in safe work practices
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of the rules of safety, especially as they relate to mechanical and electrical work
  • Can demonstrate basic computer skills
  • A valid driver's license is a requirement

Work Environment:

  • Willing to work outside in all types of weather when needed
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls after normal working hours
  • Ability to work extended hours to meet production demands

Physical Capabilities:

  • Ability to lift up to 90 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, squat, climb, and use arm and hand movements
