Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Manager to lead our Survey/Geospatial team at Colliers Engineering & Design. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the professional, technical, management, marketing, administrative, and financial aspects of the Survey/Geospatial Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department Operations Management: Review and manage department operations to ensure the quality of technical products.
  • Strategic Planning: Establish effective long-range objectives, goals, and plans for the department.
  • Decision Implementation: Implement decisions made by the Division Director.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical and management leadership to the department.
  • Marketing and Business Development: Develop a marketing program for department services in conjunction with the Division Director and Marketing Department.
  • Expert Advice: Advise and assist professionals in other departments when expert knowledge and expertise are required.
  • Project Management: Manage activities to ensure an adequate profit is earned on all projects handled by the department.
  • Productivity and Utilization: Review monthly productivity and man-hour utilization rates to determine how the department can assist project managers, staff, and other employees to achieve the contribution to profit and overhead required to meet or exceed the company's profit goals.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare reports on department activities for the Division Director.
  • Spokesperson: Act as a spokesperson for the firm in matters requiring department expertise.
  • Project Assignment and Scheduling: Assign projects to department staff and schedule work.
  • Performance Review: Review time sheets of direct reports during a specified reporting period.
Qualifications
  • Professional Development: Continually learn and apply applicable standards, procedures, trends, technology, and criteria to successfully perform the functional responsibilities of the position.
  • Relationship Building: Possess and demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships that support the success of the company.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledgeable in best practices, trends, information, and other influences that affect Colliers Engineering & Design and the environment in which we work, to maintain our position as an industry leader.
  • Communication Skills: Possess and demonstrate the ability, skills, and initiative to exchange information effectively and efficiently.
  • Leadership and Management: Possess and demonstrate the ability to lead effectively and efficiently, plan, organize, and manage procedures, protocols, and/or staff to achieve the desired results of specific projects and/or programs.
  • Professional License: Professional License in Land Surveying in New York State.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Computer Skills: Demonstrate general computer skills, knowledge, and acumen (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Aptitude for Learning: Aptitude to learn and apply technical skills and knowledge.
