POSITION SUMMARY

The Development Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the Philanthropy Department at the Greater Somerset County YMCA. This position is pivotal in providing administrative assistance, managing donor databases, and facilitating effective communication with donors. The Development Associate is dedicated to delivering exceptional service and engagement, utilizing strong listening skills and a comprehensive understanding of development practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary administrator for donor management systems, ensuring accurate processing and allocation of donations, including recording contributions, preparing financial deposits, and generating necessary reports.
  • Draft and send acknowledgment letters, invoices, and other essential correspondence to donors.
  • Enhance the utilization of fundraising software to maintain precise records of donor information, pledges, and demographic data.
  • Organize and maintain comprehensive donor files for individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.
  • Compile media and donor kits for training sessions and meetings related to fundraising initiatives.
  • Monitor departmental expenses and manage purchase orders for the Philanthropy Department.
  • Uphold the confidentiality of donor information at all times.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the Greater Somerset County YMCA.
  • Embody the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all interactions.
  • Participate in required training sessions, seminars, and meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the Philanthropy Department.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in business or office management.
  • Strong skills in customer service, written and verbal communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in standard business software and office equipment, including advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Completion of Bloodborne Pathogens training and Child Abuse Prevention Training within the initial employment period.
  • Participation in New Staff Orientation Training within the designated onboarding period.
