Cardiovascular Intensivist Physician Assistant

Penn State Health is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) team. As a critical care specialist, you will be responsible for managing complex therapies and providing direct patient care in our 30-bed unit.

The ideal candidate will have experience in critical care and a strong background in cardiology, vascular surgery, and mechanical circulatory support. You will work closely with intensivists, advance practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing cardiac surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex therapies such as IABP, Impella, VADs, ECMO, CRRT, Respiratory Ventilators, Inotropes, Vasopressors, and Vasoactive Intravenous Medications
  • Perform procedures including placement of A-line, central line, Swan Ganz catheter, removal of IABP, chest tubes, and cardiac pacer wires
  • Collaborate with physicians, consulted services, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of employment
  • National Certification in State of employment or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the State of employment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
