Collaborative Work Environment:
We are in search of an experienced Adult Thoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to enhance our esteemed team at the Congdon Heart and Vascular Center. This facility offers a comprehensive array of cardiac services, staffed by board-certified specialists. We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative environment where teamwork is paramount, and every team member contributes significantly to our success.
Key Responsibilities:
As an integral member of our healthcare team, the PA/NP will engage in comprehensive patient care, performing detailed assessments in both medical and surgical contexts. The PA/NP will operate independently in hospital and operating room settings, closely collaborating with supervising physicians and multidisciplinary team members. Responsibilities include:
- Utilizing clinical judgment to formulate appropriate patient care plans.
- Collaborating with the medical team to ensure effective team-based care.
- Ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures, while explaining their necessity and expected outcomes to patients.
- Executing procedural skills in accordance with departmental guidelines.
- Participating in clinical research initiatives.
- Mentoring students and medical learners.
- Upholding the mission and values of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.
- Performing additional related duties as necessary.
The clinician will operate under the regulatory guidelines set forth by their respective licensing organization, with specific credentialing from the institution.
Qualifications for Physician Assistants:
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; a Master's Degree is preferred.
- Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, certified by NCCPA.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant thoracic surgical experience is strongly preferred.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
Qualifications for Nurse Practitioners:
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program; a Master's degree or higher is required.
- Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner licenses.
- Board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by AANP or ANCC.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant thoracic surgical experience is strongly preferred.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
