Collaborative Work Environment:
We are in search of an experienced Adult Thoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to contribute to our high-performing team at the Congdon Heart and Vascular Center. This facility offers a comprehensive suite of cardiac services in a modern environment, staffed by board-certified specialists. We promote a collaborative culture where teamwork is paramount, and every team member plays a crucial role in our collective success.
Key Responsibilities:
As a vital member of our healthcare team, the PA/NP will engage in team-oriented patient care, conducting comprehensive assessments in both medical and surgical contexts. The PA/NP will operate independently in hospital and operating room settings, working closely with supervising physicians and multidisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include:
- Utilizing clinical judgment to formulate appropriate patient care plans.
- Collaborating with the medical team as necessary to ensure effective patient care.
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and procedures, while clearly explaining their purpose and process to patients.
- Performing procedural skills in accordance with departmental guidelines.
- Participating in clinical research and basic science projects.
- Mentoring students and medical learners as part of professional development.
- Upholding the mission, values, and cultural commitments of AHWFB.
- Executing other related duties as assigned.
The clinician will operate under the regulatory standards set by their respective licensing bodies, with specific credentialing from the institution.
Qualifications for Physician Assistants:
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; a Master's Degree is preferred.
- Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, certified by NCCPA.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant thoracic surgical experience is strongly preferred.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
Qualifications for Nurse Practitioners:
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program; a Master's degree or higher is required.
- Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner licenses.
- Board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by AANP or ANCC.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant thoracic surgical experience is strongly preferred.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
