Opportunity Overview

The VCUarts Emerging Artist Fellowship in Craft/Material Studies is a one-year residency for recent MFA graduates. This non-renewable opportunity provides the chance to focus on artistic growth, build community, gain teaching experience, and participate in a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities
  • Teach two classes per semester (8 credits per semester)
  • Present a public talk or participate in a panel discussion
  • Potential opportunity for a solo exhibition at VCUarts
Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Work predominantly in fiber
  • Have a strong foundation and understanding of their chosen material
  • Be MFA graduates within the last five years
Qualifications

Successful applicants will have:

  • Ability to teach beginner through advanced undergraduate studio classes
  • Experience working in a diverse environment and commitment to equity, diversity, and accessibility
  • Strong collaboration skills and enthusiasm for teaching and working with faculty, staff, and students
Benefits

The Fellow will receive:

  • A part-time adjunct faculty contract with an instructional salary of $50,000
  • Support for creative research and travel
