Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Early Childhood Education Assistant to join our team at Wor-Wic Community College. The successful candidate will work closely with instructors and other professionals in the Jordan Center to support the educational objectives of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with students in small groups to reinforce material introduced by the teacher
  • Assist with large group activities, field trips, and other special programs/activities for students
  • Provide programmed practice activities and repetitions as developed by the teacher
  • Guide independent study and other work assigned by the teacher
  • Reinforce appropriate behavior by following classroom teacher/case manager expectations and student's behavior plan (if applicable)
  • Report student behavioral and other problems to the instructor and assist with student problems
  • Assist with breakfast, lunch, snack, cleanup, lavatory, clothing, personal hygiene, and wash-up routines
Requirements
  • High school diploma
  • One year of experience in a child care setting
  • Excellent organizational, self-starter, human relations, and verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, parents, and associates
  • The ability to use classroom and instructional equipment
Preferred Qualifications
  • An associate degree in early childhood education or another relevant field
Working Conditions

This is a 10-month position that follows the Wicomico County Public School calendar. The successful candidate will work 32.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (30-minute lunch).

Benefits

This position is not eligible for benefits other than the option to elect subsidized employee-only coverage in the college's standard medical plan.
