The Nursing Program Educator is tasked with delivering instruction to students in designated courses, on-campus practical sessions, and/or clinical environments in accordance with the established course framework. This role involves creating supplementary materials aimed at enhancing students' NCLEX readiness, with a specific emphasis on elevating NCLEX outcomes for the PN and ADN Programs under their purview. The educator will also support fellow faculty members in analyzing HESI data and identifying students who may be at risk. Participation in the development and assessment of the nursing curriculum is also a key responsibility.

Student Achievement:
  • Fosters a supportive educational atmosphere in classrooms, practical labs, and clinical settings.
  • Guides nursing students regarding academic, programmatic, and career-related matters.
  • Assesses each student's performance and progress.
  • Suggests success strategies and provides tutoring to help students meet course goals.
  • Directs nursing students to skill development resources as necessary.
Course Delivery:
  • Teaches nursing students in assigned courses, practical labs, and/or clinical settings according to the course outline.
  • Collaborates with all college personnel to ensure comprehensive curriculum implementation.
  • Reviews course syllabi that align with the established curriculum and clarifies course expectations.
  • Designs and executes instructional strategies that facilitate student achievement of course objectives.
  • Actively engages in faculty meetings across campuses to ensure consistent course delivery.
Clinical Instruction:
  • Oversees and guides the activities of clinical instructors and teaching assistants, if applicable.
  • Ensures that instructional content aligns with clinical practice.
  • Maintains communication with clinical instructors and teaching assistants to track attendance and monitor student performance.
  • Conducts regular course meetings with clinical faculty and teaching assistants.
  • Ensures that meeting records are maintained.
  • Ensures clinical faculty members are executing the clinical aspects of the course as outlined.
  • Implements the clinical segment of the program as follows (if applicable):
    • Establishes and communicates clinical objectives within the course framework to students and clinical staff.
    • Introduces nursing students to the clinical environment and relevant policies.
    • Plans clinical experiences that align with course outcomes and student learning needs.
    • Ensures that student assignments are clearly communicated and understood.
    • Evaluates student experiences and progress in relation to clinical objectives.
    • Summarizes findings and provides feedback to students, including completing evaluation tools and grading required assignments.
    • Assigns observational opportunities during clinical sessions that meet course objectives.
Program Advocate:
  • Acts as a representative of the College in all interactions with colleagues, staff, students, patients, and families.
  • Participates in evaluative initiatives aimed at program enhancement.
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution; a PhD in nursing, DNP, or other advanced qualifications in nursing and/or higher education is preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited registered nursing program.
  • Active, unrestricted nursing license in the state of Ohio.
  • A minimum of five years of nursing practice as a registered nurse.
  • Three years of teaching experience as a full-time faculty member in a nursing program is required.
  • Experience in a NCLEX support capacity and/or teaching a capstone or comprehensive course designed to prepare students for the NCLEX examination is preferred.
