Position Overview:

The Warehouse Operations Director will manage the daily functions and overall presentation of warehouse and yard facilities in alignment with each regional office or geographical area, while directly overseeing Warehouse Leads or Supervisors. This role will also entail ensuring the accuracy of systems and information, forecasting equipment utilization and storage needs, and managing warehouse sites to minimize waste and loss.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise Warehouse Leads and Supervisors, including overseeing work activities, approving timecards and leave requests, coaching and developing various levels of warehouse personnel, and assessing staffing requirements. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of warehouse and yard areas, ensuring readiness for inspections or audits at all times. Acquire knowledge of and manage warehouse-specific software and data requirements, ensuring precision in inventory management, pick tickets, and dispatch of items. Collaborate with warehouse locations (both within and outside the regional area) and liaise with accounting or sales departments as necessary to meet customer demands. Evaluate logistical data to determine the most efficient and cost-effective methods for transporting or storing goods. Assist warehouse staff in resolving supply chain, warehousing, or logistical challenges. Oversee warehouse operations to ensure adherence to safety protocols, administrative policies, and regulatory requirements. Monitor warehouse financials and assess potential impacts on regional office profit and loss; contribute to planning and budgeting for warehouse operations. Participate in inventory assessments and counts at the end of each month, quarter, or year as required. Maintain all necessary records, logs, process documentation, and reports on a daily basis. Anticipate, coordinate, and manage inbound and outbound shipments to ensure proper cataloging, safety, and quality; perform inspections of incoming or outgoing items as needed. Ensure all personnel are trained and comply with safety protocols for warehouse operations and equipment, and conduct safety training as required. Engage with customers, drivers, vendors, auditors, and visitors in a manner consistent with MEI's mission and policies. Manage each warehouse facility as a profit center, organizing work activities and resources to optimize efficiency. Travel frequently to local warehouse locations; occasional overnight travel may be necessary. Perform additional duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; higher education or certification in a related field preferred. At least two (2) years of supervisory experience required, preferably in warehousing or supply chain; a combination of education and experience will be considered. Valid Driver's license and insurability required. Proficient in Windows-based computer systems, with advanced knowledge of software (especially MS Office) and the ability to learn new applications. Experience operating industrial machinery and various powered equipment. Understanding of logistics as it pertains to trucking and interstate transportation. Familiarity with OSHA regulations relevant to warehousing and logistics; knowledge of laws and regulations specific to the relevant states and employment supervision. Ability to maintain legible records in English and comprehend grammatical nuances and spelling. Must be able to travel locally, both on a scheduled and ad-hoc basis. Familiarity with mathematical concepts and calculations, including fractions, percentages, and geometry.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

This role involves significant physical activity. A Warehouse Operations Director must be capable of performing General Physical Activities, which include extensive use of arms and legs, as well as moving the entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials weighing up to 50 pounds. The ability to work at varying heights and not be adversely affected by moving machinery is essential. Work environments may vary between indoor, climate-controlled warehouses and non-temperature-controlled areas, and may include outdoor work in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain. The Warehouse Operations Director may also need to sit or stand for extended periods and frequently use standard office equipment, while relying on visual, auditory, and manual dexterity senses.
