Essential Technical Skills:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in the field

  • Proficient in API security tools and methodologies, such as penetration testing and API gateways
  • Strong understanding of cryptography and authentication protocols
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork with developers and cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with API security frameworks and various API patterns
  • Robust experience in Secure by Design principles, with the ability to construct secure systems from the ground up
  • Capable of articulating recommendations and justifications in meetings

Soft Skills:

  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to engage leadership
  • Articulate communicator, able to explain recommendations clearly
  • Excellent collaboration skills for working with diverse teams

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in team meetings and weekly security strategy group meetings
  • Focus on developing a roadmap for various activities to enhance the program, including dashboards
  • Provide design guidance in alignment with security best practices
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish an API security strategy that aligns with business objectives
  • Design a secure API architecture utilizing secure design patterns, encryption protocols, and authentication/authorization mechanisms
  • Create a comprehensive framework for API security, outlining procedures for threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing
  • Assist in configuring API gateways to enforce security policies, including rate limiting and access control
  • Design and implement robust authentication and authorization mechanisms to manage access to API resources based on user roles and permissions, potentially including OAuth, OpenID Connect, or API key management solutions
  • Generate actionable insights regarding suspicious activities, potential attacks, and API misuse
  • Educate developers on best practices for API security
  • Effectively communicate API security risks to stakeholders, including developers, product managers, and business leadership

Summary: The primary role of a security architect is to strategize, coordinate, and implement security measures for information systems to regulate access to data and prevent unauthorized modifications, destruction, or disclosure of information.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify security vulnerabilities and risks, and develop mitigation strategies
  • Architect, design, implement, support, and evaluate security-focused tools and services, including project leadership roles
  • Develop and interpret security policies and procedures
  • Engage in security compliance initiatives
  • Create and deliver training materials, fostering general security awareness and specific technology training
  • Assess and recommend new and emerging security products and technologies

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical abilities
  • Extensive experience and technical knowledge in security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, and application security
  • Consistent implementation of security solutions
  • Experience in infrastructure or application-level vulnerability testing and auditing

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, or a related discipline is required
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
