Responsibilities:
* Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including supervision, mentoring, and evaluation of accounting staff.
* Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly accounting reports and financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
* Analyze financial statements to identify and address potential issues, financial irregularities, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
* Provide recommendations to executive leadership and ownership regarding profit maximization and areas for improved or more efficient expense structure.
* Collaborate with department heads to monitor and ensure adherence to budgets across all departments, proactively addressing any variances and maintaining alignment with organizational financial strategies.
* Oversee the processing of vendor payments, payroll, and checks, ensuring they are completed in compliance with financial policies and procedures, and that all transactions are recorded accurately.
* Oversee and prepare accurate invoices to clients on a monthly basis and in accordance with company invoicing schedule.
* Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, posting, and recording accounting data, while also overseeing account maintenance and reconciling books of accounts.
* Prepare bank reconciliations monthly as well as other standard accounting monthly closing procedures.
* Generate detailed financial reports and provide regular updates and strategic insights to management to support informed decision-making and guide financial planning.
Requirements:
* Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience.
* Proven experience working as an accounting supervisor for a minimum of 1-2 years.
* Experience with Deltek Vision or upgraded version of the system, Deltek Vantage software is highly preferred.
* Proven ability to accurately process large amounts of numerical data.
* Strong computer skills, proficient in MS Office programs, including Word and Excel.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Decisive and capable of managing multiple tasks while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
* Availability for late afternoon and evening hours, overtime, and weekends as needed for safety emergencies or incidents.
* Willingness to travel at least 20% across the U.S. by plane or car.
* Valid, active, and clear driver's license.
* Demonstrates technical expertise, coaching ability, and passion for the role.
* Effective in partnering and collaborating to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes with internal and external partners.
