The Authorization Specialist position is a critical role within PT Solutions Physical Therapy, responsible for managing the prior authorization process. This involves collecting necessary documentation, communicating with clients and insurance companies, and ensuring timely and accurate submission of prior and retro authorization requests.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and review patient information and medical records to determine authorization requirements.
- Communicate with clients, insurance companies, and patients to obtain necessary information and resolve authorization issues.
- Submit prior and retro authorization requests to payors in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitor and analyze authorization trends and issues to identify areas for improvement.
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external clients.
- Stay up-to-date with changing payor requirements and regulations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with courses in bookkeeping and accounting.
- One to two years of medical billing and administrative experience.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to type 60 words per minute.
- Working knowledge of medical reimbursement and terminology.
- Ability to work with disabled individuals.
- Working knowledge of standard office equipment and insurance billing procedures.
- One to two years of supervisor experience.
- Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT codes.
- Understanding of payor expectations for billing, reimbursement, credentialing, and audit.
