Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Instructional Aide to join our team at Hays CISD. As an Instructional Aide, you will play a vital role in supporting students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the teacher in implementing classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs.
  • Help meet the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, positioning, and assisting with personal care.
  • Keep the teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students and help manage behavior in the classroom.
  • Work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher or recommended by OT/PT.
  • Help supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, field trips, and playground duty.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or two years of study at an institution of higher learning preferred.
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate required.
  • Ability to work with children with disabilities, follow verbal and written instructions, and communicate effectively.
  • SAMA (Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression) Certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions is essential.

The successful candidate will be required to maintain confidentiality and participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
