Job Title: Eviction Mediator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Eviction Mediator to join our team at the Center for Housing and Community Studies. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing mediation services between landlords and tenants facing eviction due to overdue rent. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact in the community and work with a diverse group of people.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide mediation services between landlords and tenants facing eviction due to overdue rent
* Maintain and obtain knowledge of housing counseling agencies and resources that would be helpful in addressing rental areas and addressing cost burdens
* Connect parties with community resources as part of mediation services
* Reduce tensions between disputing parties as part of the mediation process to reach a mutually agreed-upon resolution

Requirements:

* Master's degree plus at least 2 years of experience in the fields of housing policy, social work, mediation, conflict resolution, or related fields
* Knowledge of the law, particularly housing laws, is preferred
* Ability to communicate professionally and directly with senior officials, elected officials, and executive directors
* In-depth knowledge of conflict resolution and mediation, as well as knowledge of housing-related matters, including rental contracts, lease agreements, and local housing resources

Preferred Qualifications:

* MPA preferred
* Experience in communicating and disseminating findings to a broad and diverse audience through written and oral presentations to diverse public constituencies
* Experience in conducting mediation sessions
* Basic knowledge of the housing situation in the Guilford County area

Work Environment:

This is a permanent, full-time position with a 50% FTE. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with a team of professionals who are passionate about making a positive impact in the community.
