Medical Assistant

Covenant Physician Partners is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at Gastroenterology East, P.A. and Endoscopy Center in Greenville, NC.
This is a full-time position that will involve both front and back office duties, including scheduling appointments, checking in patients, phone triage, rooming patients, obtaining vitals, assisting physicians, and other duties as assigned.
We are looking for someone with a great attitude and solid prior experience in both Medical Assisting and medical front office. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, strong at multi-tasking, and dedicated to high-quality patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assists with the timely flow of patient encounters by preparing patient exam rooms, collecting equipment and supplies as requested.
- May perform procedures under the supervision of a physician or physician assistant/nurse practitioner.
- Assists physicians or physician assistants/nurse practitioners in exam rooms.
- Escorts patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measures vital signs, and documents all information in patient charts.
- Gives instructions to patients as instructed by providers.
- Carries out orders and arranges for testing/treatment for patients under the direction of providers.
- Maintains medical records and ensures proper chart documentation and accurate record-keeping.
- Ensures all related reports, labs, and information are available in patients' medical records prior to their appointment.
- Keeps exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintains instruments, and prepares sterilization as required.
- Takes telephone messages and provides feedback and answers to patient/provider/pharmacy calls in a timely manner.
- Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to providers.
- Maintains all logs and required checks (i.e., refrigerator temperatures, expired medication samples).
- Assists in provisions for a safe, clean, and orderly environment for patients and fellow employees.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the practice manager or lead nurse.
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant with a strong commitment to patient care and privacy guidelines.
The ideal candidate will have a high school graduate or equivalent, a minimum of 1 year of prior experience as a Medical Assistant, and current CMA certification. Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and diagnosis is also required.
Prior scheduling and EMR experience is strongly preferred. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, work independently or in a team setting, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills are also essential.
