Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to spearhead our EHS programs at our manufacturing facility. This role is vital in ensuring adherence to all environmental, health, and safety laws while cultivating a workplace culture that prioritizes safety and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and oversee the plant's EHS management systems and initiatives in alignment with the overall EHS strategy.
- Manage the budget for EHS activities, seeking efficiencies without compromising the quality of safety programs.
- Oversee the plant safety audit system, ensuring timely execution and utilization of data for continuous improvement.
- Track, maintain, and report on all EHS performance indicators.
- Assist in creating and updating site-specific EHS policies and procedures, ensuring they are effectively communicated and enforced.
- Handle all EHS-related incidents, including investigations, corrective actions, and necessary documentation.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to maintain knowledge of the workers' compensation program and related processes.
- Ensure that all material safety data sheets (MSDS) are current and accessible.
- Monitor employee industrial hygiene and maintain relevant records.
- Develop safety training materials for both meetings and hands-on training sessions.
- Create an annual training schedule based on departmental needs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations to mitigate risks.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as ASP, OHST, CSP, QEP, or CIH are preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing context.
- Strong understanding of regulatory standards and safety management practices.
- Experience in incident investigation and hazard assessment.
- Ability to engage with employees to foster a positive safety culture.
