Patient Care Technician Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team at UW Health in northern Illinois. As a Patient Care Technician, you will work under the direct supervision of an RN to provide exceptional patient care, performing selected cross-trained skills, treatments, and procedures specific to the department. You will also update the RN with timely information regarding the status of patients in compliance with Patient Services Department policy and other regulatory agency requirements.

About the Role:
In this role, you will assist in providing patient care, perform selected cross-trained skills, treatments, and procedures specific to the department, and update the RN with timely information regarding the status of patients. You will also participate in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and divisional nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in providing patient care under the direct supervision of an RN.
- Perform selected cross-trained skills, treatments, and procedures specific to the department.
- Update the RN with timely information regarding the status of patients.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must have certification as a Nursing Assistant or completion of fundamentals of nursing course and be registered on the Illinois Department of Health Registry. You must also have bi-annual CPR designation by the recommended renewal date. Additionally, Heart Hospital incumbents must complete BDI course within six months of hire. Successful completion of annual clinical, age, and job-specific competencies and skill verification tools is required. Good interpersonal, organizational, and critical decision-making skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Computer experience is helpful, and basic arithmetic skills are required. Exceptional customer service skills with all customers are necessary.
