The Cloud Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of extensive clusters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate the ability to collaborate within a mission-focused team structure, adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), communicate effectively, and accept constructive feedback.
  • Exhibit a willingness to learn new technologies and utilize senior-level resources to enhance the existing technical foundation.
  • Possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience in scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, or Python.
  • Have at least three (3) years of experience with core components of the Linux operating system, including user and group account management in LDAP, and configuration of DHCP, DNS, and TFTP.
  • Show experience with configuration management tools like Puppet and SALT.

Educational Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics is preferred and may be considered equivalent to two (2) years of experience.
  • Hadoop/Cloud System Administrator Certification or similar Cloud System/Service Certification is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting large-scale cloud computing systems, with familiarity in distributed systems such as Hadoop, Cassandra, Scality, Swift, Gluster, Lustre, GPFS, Amazon S3, or comparable technologies for big data management.
  • Ability to work independently on complex tasks and a willingness to mentor junior technical staff.
  • Capability to plan, communicate, lead, and oversee intricate technical tasks involving multiple groups.
  • Advanced knowledge of SSH tunneling and protocols, including dynamic SOCKS proxies and other SSH-based utilities.
  • Understanding of the end-to-end Linux PXE/Network provisioning process, including familiarity with Anaconda Kickstart configurations and RAID controller utilities.
  • Experience with remote utilities for system access and troubleshooting, including VNC and IPMI.
  • Familiarity with corporate architecture and knowledge of OpenSSL and Java keystore manipulation.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs and Layer 2/Layer 3 switch interactions.
  • Experience with commodity hardware platforms, including SGI/HP hardware.
  • Familiarity with software load balancers for large-scale web service implementations.
  • Experience with log aggregation and search tools such as ElasticSearch and Grafana.
