The successful candidate will apply the science and art of human nutrition in selecting and obtaining food, collaborating with investigators to plan and implement research studies, and designing diets for research projects.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with investigators to plan and implement research studies, including literature review and negotiation.
- Obtain and evaluate nutrition histories of subjects, contacting families as needed to plan nutrition aspects of studies.
- Design diets for research studies, considering nutritional principles, needs, and preferences of subjects.
- Supervise the service of regular and clinical diets for studies not requiring balance procedures.
- Assist in supervising Research Dietetic Assistants in the production and service of research diets.
- Makes appropriate changes in diet or procedures as needed.
- Develop innovative recipes using unusual products or combinations of products.
- Direct the preparation of food aliquots for laboratory analysis as required by research study protocols.
- Interact with medical students, house officers, fellows, and investigators.
- Counsel and educate patients and families to meet requirements for continued nutritional care.
- Registered Dietitian and Licensed Dietitian in the State of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location.
- Two years' work experience in adult or pediatric dietetics.
- Ability to handle dietary mathematical calculations and metabolic balance techniques for nutritional management.
- Ability to review medical literature, comprehend, and give verbal/written instructions, use scientific reasoning, and relate effectively with people.
Washington University in St. Louis offers a competitive salary range of $41.87/hourly, with individual rates determined by factors including qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade, and department budget.
