Key Responsibilities

  • Aid in the upkeep, repair, and restoration of structures and surfaces made from stone materials.
  • Support senior personnel in preparing test mixtures and formulating both amended and unamended mortars in accordance with established specifications.
  • With minimal oversight, remove compromised sections of walls, partitions, or similar structures in preparation for restoration.
  • Cap, replace, grout, and reinforce walls or sections of walls under close supervision, ensuring that the repaired areas closely resemble the original, undamaged sections of the structure.
  • Load, unload, and transport cement, soil, stone, tools, and equipment, as well as stack and manage stone building materials and supplies at the job site.

Employment Conditions

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Appointment is subject to a background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirements for males.
  • Selected candidates will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
  • Uniforms must be worn in compliance with National Park Service standards, with a uniform allowance provided.
  • May be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and shifts.
  • New federal employees will need to complete a one-year probationary period.
  • Government Charge Card: Training may be required to obtain and maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old or at least 16 years old and meet specific educational or vocational training criteria.

To qualify for this role, candidates must demonstrate adequate knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
