Position Overview

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) delivers direct rehabilitation services in physical therapy to patients based on physician referrals, under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT), adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program (ASPT)
  • Currently registered/licensed in the applicable state, maintaining an active license in good standing throughout employment
  • Preferred: One (1) year of experience in post-acute care or a related environment
  • CPR certification required upon hire or to be obtained during orientation, with ongoing maintenance of certification during employment
Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in community health initiatives as appropriate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and support departments to effectively address patient needs
  • Exhibit proper body mechanics consistently
  • Make independent decisions when necessary
  • Knowledgeable of practices, procedures, and regulations governing operations in a post-acute care setting
  • Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • Maintain professional relationships with all associates and vendors
  • Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and confidential information
  • Understand and adhere to company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following Life Care's Code of Conduct and completing mandatory compliance training
Essential Duties:
  • Follow physical therapy treatment plans as directed by the supervising PT
  • Document patient progress accurately and timely
  • Utilize therapy software effectively and accurately
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude towards patients
  • Assist in the safe evacuation of patients when necessary
  • Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance
  • Employ reasoning skills and sound judgment in all situations
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during working hours
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
