GENERAL STATEMENT:

POSITION SCOPE:

This role involves assisting the chef and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining area for the Social Service meal initiative.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred experience in cleaning and sanitation

A minimum of 2 years in a public kitchen setting, adhering to safe food handling protocols.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Present a tidy and professional appearance

Understanding of safe food handling practices

Possession of Serve Safe certification

Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team

Must be able to pass a background screening

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Wash pots, pans, and utensils manually, ensuring proper storage in designated areas

Assist the chef with meal preparation tasks

Restock condiment containers as needed

Regularly clean tables and chairs in the dining area

Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, dining area, walk-in refrigerator, and gym when utilized for meals

Wash linens and other laundry on a daily basis

Wipe down cupboards and counters as necessary

Assist in sanitizing and cleaning the shower and restroom facilities after client use

It is the intention of The Salvation Army to ensure employee safety. Adherence to all safety protocols in the workplace is crucial. All kitchen personnel are required to wear shoes that meet the following criteria:

Closed-toe with slip-resistant soles.

Other responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Engaging in physical activities that necessitate substantial use of arms and legs, including balancing, walking, bending, twisting, and handling materials.

Manual Dexterity: The ability to swiftly move hands, arms, or both hands to grasp and manipulate objects.

Must demonstrate safe lifting techniques and be capable of lifting 40 pounds repeatedly without difficulty.

Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. A qualified individual with a disability may request modifications or adjustments to the job or work environment to meet the physical requirements of the position.
