About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Necropsy Technician III to join our team at Charles River Laboratories. As a key member of our safety assessment team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Animal Care and Handling: Ensure the humane care and welfare of animals in our facilities, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines.
  • Necropsy and Histology: Perform necropsies and histological procedures with precision and accuracy, including tissue handling, trimming, embedding, and staining.
  • Sample Collection and Preparation: Collect, document, and verify data on forms and in electronic data capture systems, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: Review documentation and verify data to ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Instrumentation and Equipment Maintenance: Use and maintain instrumentation and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) required; Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or equivalent in a biological science preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year of relevant experience, with competency in large animal euthanasia and necropsy (i.e., dog and non-human primate) required.
  • Certification/Licensure: None, unless required by local government.
  • Skill Plan: Completion of a skill plan based on department training plan.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Ability to troubleshoot quality issues, adapt to changing priorities, and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
