Job Overview

SMSI is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Springdale, AR. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the successful completion of ongoing projects, meeting project objectives within designated timelines and criteria, and participating in departmental and corporate meetings.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in engineering, fabrication, construction, and service practices in Refrigeration, HVAC, Piping, and Electrical/Controls. They will also possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing engineering knowledge to design and develop solutions for complex problems.
  • Meeting project objectives within designated timelines and criteria.
  • Participating in departmental and corporate meetings to discuss project progress and goals.
  • Learning to interpret project documents and specifications.
  • Gaining and sharing job site experiences to improve project execution.
  • Enhancing professional communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Utilizing industry software to design drawings and develop technical documents.
  • Developing listening skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders.
  • Generating reports and conducting calculations to support project decisions.
  • Grasping and implementing methodologies for engineering and project execution.
  • Utilizing data in practical scenarios to inform project decisions.
  • Applying design Codes and Standards to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Cultivating the ability to think critically and apply it in practical situations.
  • Possessing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a proven record of academic excellence, resourcefulness, honesty, and hard work.
  • Demonstrating proficiency with word processing, PowerPoint, email, spreadsheets, and AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Possessing knowledge of Revit or BIM is preferable but not essential.
Requirements:
  • Applicants must have a BS degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution and be eligible to take the Engineering Intern Exam.
  • Applicant must be able to display a track record of exceptional academic achievements, ingenuity, integrity, and perseverance.
  • Applicants must demonstrate competency with word processing, PowerPoint, email, spreadsheets, AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Familiarity with Revit or BIM is preferable but not essential.
  • Travel to various job sites and other locations required occasionally.
