Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the effective scheduling of Work Orders and conducting Preventative and Corrective Maintenance Inspections, while ensuring the availability of necessary parts and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supports Maintenance Supervisors in addressing Road Calls and ensuring the readiness of the revenue vehicle fleet for daily service
  • Manages, trains, and supervises departmental staff to ensure efficient maintenance of the fleet and infrastructure
  • Monitors and updates asset management software to establish preventative maintenance service schedules for revenue and non-revenue vehicles
  • Coordinates and schedules vendor repair requirements both on and off property, collaborating with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) suppliers as needed
  • Tracks, maintains, and verifies repairs, warranty issues, accident reports, and overall inventory levels in the asset management software, including capital spare parts
  • Collaborates with the Parts and Procurement Manager to maintain critical fleet maintenance inventory
  • Supports vendor and contractor relationships for fleet and service delivery needs
  • Implements departmental campaign projects, ensuring proper record-keeping for warranties, safety recalls, maintenance bulletins, and OEM service requirements
  • Generates labor productivity reports to identify trends or shortcomings, working with staff to develop solutions
  • Gathers data and documentation for monthly/quarterly/annual reports, including mean distance between failure (MDBF), safety, risk management, environmental impact, and material consumption
  • Supports staff training on maintenance procedures and processes related to maintenance tasks
  • Establishes effective communication methods and practices for staff across all shifts to facilitate departmental efficiency
  • Administers employee discipline and corrective actions
  • Organizes work schedules, particularly for weekend, holiday, and/or overtime shifts
  • Ensures adherence to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
  • Proactively seeks ways to enhance customer satisfaction and foster stronger customer relationships
  • Participates in identifying areas for enhancement and implementing constructive changes
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of the company's operations and stays updated on evolving policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the General Manager
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Business Management, or Administration is preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience that enables the successful performance of the role's essential functions will be considered
  • Transit Safety Institute (TSI) Transit Safety and Security Program (TSSP) certification preferred
  • American Association of Railroads (AAR) M-1003 quality assurance auditor certification preferred
  • Acceptable railway engineering certificate preferred
  • Possesses valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Experience:
  • Minimum Five (5) years management and supervisory experience in an FTA or FRA-regulated rail transit agency or system or passenger or commuter railroad operation
  • At least 7-10 years of relevant experience in rail maintenance
  • Proven experience in rail transit maintenance management
  • Strong leadership abilities with demonstrated experience in supervising and motivating teams
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Ability to effectively manage budgets, resources, and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
