About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Automotive Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Dart Container. As a Fleet Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on our company-owned tractors and trailers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preventative Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Diagnostic and Troubleshooting: Properly diagnose and troubleshoot issues with tractors and trailers, including gas and diesel-powered engines, hydraulic and air brake systems, drivetrain, suspension, chassis, and electrical systems.
  • Parts Management: Estimate and price repairs, order and inventory parts as necessary.
  • Testing and Validation: Drive tractors and trailers to test that repairs meet requirements and conform to safety standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, including commercial driving regulations.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs, including Electronic Log Device (ELD) and ELD software.
Requirements
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL): Possess a valid Class B CDL (Commercial Driver License) or Class A CDL (Commercial Driver License).
  • Education and Experience: High School diploma with two (2) years of related experience, or Associate degree with an emphasis in Vehicle Maintenance, Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, or related field of study.
  • Driving Record: Maintain a favorable driving record throughout duration of employment.
  • Power Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) Certification: Meet all requirements to be PITO certified.
  • Diagnostic Equipment: Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and personal computer.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrate minimum proficiency with the English language to ensure effective new hire training and ongoing communications about safety and quality issues.
