Position Overview:

The Bilingual Advocate for Anti-Human Trafficking will be responsible for a range of critical tasks aimed at supporting victims of human trafficking. This role involves extensive outreach and advocacy efforts to identify and assist individuals affected by trafficking.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engage in comprehensive outreach initiatives to enhance the identification of human trafficking victims.
  2. Assess individuals who may be at risk to determine potential trafficking situations.
  3. Deliver direct advocacy services to both domestic and international victims of sex and labor trafficking.
  4. Provide crisis intervention and develop safety plans to help victims secure necessary resources for their protection.
  5. Establish and uphold a case management system that ensures all program requirements are accurately documented.
  6. Facilitate referrals for victims to access social, economic, vocational, psychological, legal, and medical resources tailored to their needs.
  7. Accompany victims to court, shelters, and other community services as required.
  8. Connect victims with additional anti-human trafficking services and programs that offer financial support, shelter, and resources to enhance their safety and independence.
  9. Collaborate with local and regional organizations and law enforcement to create a unified response to human trafficking.
  10. Conduct follow-up communications with assigned victims and partner organizations, including law enforcement and legal entities.
  11. Participate in civil and criminal trial processes, providing education, support, and intervention for victims during trial proceedings.
  12. Work alongside state and federal law enforcement and other anti-trafficking programs to ensure the safety and rights of clients are prioritized.
  13. Offer training and technical assistance to local organizations to enhance their understanding of human trafficking and improve victim identification efforts.
Qualifications:

  1. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, both verbal and written.
  2. High School Diploma (or equivalent) with at least two years of post-secondary education in a relevant field; additional work experience may substitute for educational requirements.
  3. A minimum of one year of experience working with vulnerable or underserved populations.
  4. Proven experience in client care and resource management to promote safety and self-sufficiency.
  5. Experience collaborating with law enforcement and judicial systems.
  6. Understanding of the legal rights of victims and familiarity with civil and criminal legal processes.
  7. Strong communication, writing, leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
  8. Ability to demonstrate effective case management techniques within a complex service delivery framework.
  9. Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  10. Willingness to travel within the state and work flexible hours, including on-call evening shifts.
  11. Possession of a valid driver's license, personal transportation, and adequate insurance coverage.
