Position Overview

The Multi-Domain Solutions Division at Leidos is seeking a Chief Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership in systems engineering within our organization.

This role emphasizes the ability to work collaboratively, with a preference for candidates located in Northern Virginia, though remote work options are available. The position is dependent on contract award.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead technical initiatives for Network Management Activities.
  2. Oversee technical planning, including the management of system hardware, software, and network design, development, integration, verification, validation, and deployment. Assess alternatives based on cost, risk, and supportability while conducting comprehensive systems analysis.
  3. Collaborate with the Air Force, industry partners, and research centers to ensure alignment with program network requirements and operational goals.
  4. Facilitate integration with other industry performers within a larger system-of-systems framework.
  5. Conduct gap analysis of existing capabilities and network deployments.
  6. Support technical and programmatic information exchange to achieve program objectives.
  7. Engage in Working Groups and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), both informal and formal technical discussions, and structured reviews.
  8. Create and maintain technical roadmaps and reference architectures.
  9. Document standards and interfaces while leading teams to ensure high customer satisfaction and uphold Leidos' brand integrity.
  10. Ensure compliance with Leidos policies and procedures across the organization.
  11. Exemplify moral and ethical leadership through personal conduct.
  12. Foster a culture rooted in Leidos' values and the highest standards of ethical behavior.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  2. Proven knowledge of systems engineering principles applied to Department of Defense projects.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with customers and technical experts.
  4. Experience in cross-functional planning and execution of system integration activities.
  5. Ability to work effectively with diverse teams across various technical disciplines.
  6. Familiarity with Cloud and Edge Computing, Networks, Tactical Communications, Data Management, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, and C4ISR systems integration.
  7. Prior experience in designing and implementing network infrastructure.
  8. Demonstrated experience with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira and Confluence).

Clearance Requirement:

  1. Must hold at least a Secret clearance with the capability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with ABMS or JADC2 initiatives.
  2. Background in Earned Value Management (EVM).
  3. Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  4. Familiarity with SAFe Agile practices.
  5. Prior involvement with Department of the Air Force programs.
  6. Experience with complex multi-domain systems.
  7. Knowledge of large-scale weapons systems and command and control platforms within the DoD.
