Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our medical oncology team at Thrive Pet Healthcare. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and compassion to our clients and their pets.

Responsibilities

As a Registered Veterinary Technician, you will be responsible for:
  • Assessing changes in hospitalized patients' conditions and advising doctors and updating owners on a daily basis
  • Performing venipuncture, placing IV catheterization, and administering IV/IM/SQ injections
  • Providing fluid therapy and drug calculations
  • Experienced in animal handling and restraint
  • Obtaining, running, and processing diagnostic tests
  • Administering and filling medications
  • Must be proficient in catheterizations, including urinary, i.v., and butterfly catheters
  • Experience in monitoring anesthesia, inducing and monitoring anesthesia, and recovering patients
  • Facilitating the coordination of patient care
  • Performing bone marrow aspirates, skin punch biopsies, and fine needle aspirates
  • Assisting with radiographs and holding for ultrasonography procedures
  • Providing complex information to clients in a kind and understandable manner
  • Assisting with patient procedures, exams, and preparation of patients
  • Experience and attention to detail in working with patients' medical records
  • Experience with Ezyvet is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to work in a constantly evolving environment and multitask
  • Light housekeeping duties and restocking of treatment supplies
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Minimum 2 years of veterinary technician experience
  • RVT license required
  • Knowledge of veterinary medicine and terminology
  • Prior chemotherapy experience desired, but willing to train the right candidate
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to communicate calmly, clearly, and effectively with both staff and clients
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations
  • Willingness to cross-train in other areas of the hospital

Working Conditions

This role is a full/part-time position, with 10-hour shifts. You must be available to work from 8am to 7pm. The rate of pay is based on experience, starting at $28-33/hr.
